Format & Guidelines

YJA Jain Academic Bowl (JAB) features 4 competing teams of 5 players from across the country. Two semifinal matches will be held on Saturday, July 2nd during sessions and the JAB Finals will be held on Sunday, July 3rd. Attendees can sign up to watch JAB through session registration.

Game formats change every year. This year, we have three 10-12 minute rounds that make up a full JAB match.

  1. CodeJains - An adaptation of “CodeNames,” a boardgame where participants have to guess Jain words given various clues.
  2. Deal or No Deal - An adaptation of the classic gameshow in which participants answer questions to collect “cases” with varying amounts of points.
  3. Jain Jeopardy - An adaptation of the classic gameshow in which participants can choose the category and difficulty for every question.

Preparation

If you are interested in learning some of the content for JAB, a good resource to look at is the JAB Manual, which can be found online at jainelibrary.org, and YJA Pathshala. We will later let teams know which chapters in the manual the competition questions will be drawn from.
