Every two years, YJA brings together hundreds of Jain youth from around the world to learn about and expand the Jain way of life and build long-lasting friendships at its biennial Convention. The 2022 YJA Convention experience, themed "Navigating New Horizons," is designed to give Jain youth a platform to encounter novel ideas and engage with like-minded thinkers as they find and pave their own paths in the world. Taking place from July 1-4, 2022, it will be hosted in the heart of the South region: Dallas, Texas!
Over the course of four days, attendees will learn and engage with each other through creative programming and activities. A typical morning might begin with guided meditation and yoga before leading into a keynote address or Jeopardy-style competition in a larger group setting. Throughout the day, attendees will attend various breakout sessions of their choice to learn about a variety of topics and network with speakers and fellow attendees. Evenings feature several opportunities to form new bonds at events including the talent show, Garba night, and formal. When the jam-packed weekend comes to an end, attendees will leave with meaningful relationships and a community of their own.
Ultimately, attendees will have the opportunity to explore new perspectives in sessions and workshops, connect with others at social events, and grow as individuals and as Jains throughout the Convention. From completing impactful Seva to sharing stories over Jain meals, and everything in between, attendees will become stronger leaders and build an invaluable sense of self.
YJA 2022: Navigating New Horizons
With "Navigating," we call attention to the journeys to self-fulfillment that each of us embarks on: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We strive to empower our youth as they live and lead with purpose, intention, and the guidance of Jain principles.
With "New," we consider the future — the endless possibilities when it comes to dreaming of what lies ahead and who we will become. While we may face challenges in pursuing our goals, we will undoubtedly undergo self-growth in overcoming them.
With "Horizons," we understand that we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our lives. This Convention's theme was carefully crafted to allude to both where we stand today and where we hope to go.
